Local Online Advertising Expected to Reach $10B

One of the most important messages we convey to our clients is the need to get into local online advertising before that ship has sailed. There are numbers thrown about all the time but here’s one you should be aware of:
$10 Billion to Be Spent Towards Local Searchers by 2010
Someone has to be spending all that money and if you’re not spending it, then one of your competitors is.
Advertising Dollars Follow the Eyeballs
There’s a reason that these dollars are being spent on local advertising - that’s where the eyeballs are going. Local advertisers are becoming more and more aware of this.
We got calls from 2 potential clients last week saying that their OLD local advertising (newspapers, ValPak, etc.) was not working anymore. They had budgets in the tens of thousands of dollars and they were very much determined to move it online.
Could These Be Your Competitors?
I didn’t say what industry these different prospects were in but they could be in any industry - they could be in your industry. They will have the advantage of being first mover on to the scene. By the time their competitors decide to move local advertising online, they will know what channels are most effective for them online, what messages appeal to local searchers, what ROI they can get from their campaigns, and they will have fully optimized their marketing to marginalize their competitors for several years.
Have you started moving your advertising online?
