Google Launches Website Optimizer
April 4th, 2007 by Jim
Google formally launched their new Website Optimizer Tool today. Small-business marketers who use it will be able to close the loop on their full marketing tests.

Previously, businesses could send traffic to their website via Adwords and track the results through Analytics. With Adwords, you could test multiple ads and keywords to determine what worked and what didn’t. However, there was no way to know whether the copy on your web page (often the most important component of the online marketing process) was most effectively converting visitors.
With Google Optimizer, you can now test variations of different sections on your landing pages, whether it’s the Headline, Body Copy, Images, Layout, etc.
Tip: Make sure that you run ads for at least a week to fully test out the variations of time of day and day of the week.
Tip: Make sure each page/variation has at least 30 landings before you make a decision on which one works better. There is some statistical significance once you get up around those numbers.
